John F. Gardner BA Dip.Arch.(Sheffield) qualified in 1970 and worked in the architectural profession for over thirty five years.

This page is a historical record of John's career and it also his Curriculum Vitae. He worked for a number of well known Architect's practices throughout the UK, as well as local authorities.

  • 1968 RIBA part 1 certificate in Architecture at Sheffield University.

  • 1970 RIBA part 2 certificate in Architecture at Sheffield University.

  • 1972 RIBA part 3 certificate in Architecture at Sheffield University.

  • November 1972 John became a registered a member of the Architects’ Registration Council United Kingdom (ARCUK) which changed its name to Architects’ Registration Board (ARB).

  • 1991 registered as a member of the Royal Institute British Architects (RIBA).

  • 1996 he let his membership with the ARB and RIBA (Royal Institute for British Architects) lapse and he elected not to rejoin them thereafter.

    • Alterations and refurbishment at Leeds Civic Hall.

    • Office Development for Ethnic Minorities Programme Roundhay Road.

    • Refurbishment of Headrow Housing Advice Centre.

    • Alternative proposals for Redevelopment of Holt Park District Centre.

    • (Asda store/Sports centre/Ralph Thoresby High School).

    • Extensions to Allerton Bywater Primary School.

    • Alternative proposals for Redevelopment of Bardsey Primary School.

    • Liaison Architect for Extensions to Intake H.S. and Robin Hood Primary School.

    • Feasibility Study for alterations/improvements to Otley Civic Hall.

    • Extensions to Regional PFA Training H.Q. Pavilion at Rothwell.

    • Feasibility Study for New Broderick Bar and Victoria Tea Room in Leeds Town Hall.

    • Range of commissions such as Grade II Listed Buildings at Cragghill Baptist Church, Horsforth and Potterton Hall, split-level bungalow at Rawdon, houses in Horsforth and Headingley, shops at Kirkstall.

    • Design new shopfront for refurbishment of Headingley Branch Office.

    • Data processing Centre Islington.

    • Reorganised internal layout of Northern Property Centre.

    • Design, detail and supervision of Regency Private Hospital in Macclesfield.

    • Design of Children’s Cancer Hospital  -  St James’in Leeds.

    • Design and management of Creche for Digital Equipment Company - Reading.

    • Presentation drawings for projects in Moscow, Denia and Fuengirolla.
